A question I always ask my clients is, “do you suffer from
dry skin?”. The vast majority say yes especially during the winter.
Dry, scaly, itchy skin in the winter occurs when our skin
is low in moisture. Fortunately, there are easy and cheap remedies
for this problem, most if not all of which can be found in our homes.
While allopathic medical advice usually includes using chemiacl-based moisturizers, I recommend avoiding creams with petrolatum or
mineral oils due to their cancer causing effects.
When we suffer from dry, flaky skin, animal-based omega-3 fat,
such as krill oil, can help. It’s one of the best ways to
rehydrate your skin from the inside out, besides drinking plenty of clean water.
The health and quality of our skin is strongly linked to
the health of our gut. Fermented vegetables, such as Kimchi, are ideal for promoting the growth
of our friendluy bacteria.
When applied to our skin, coconut oil helps to reduce the
appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping to keep our connective
tissues strong and supple, and aids in exfoliating the outer layer of dead skin
cells, making our skin smoother.
